WHY 'CATHOLICS IN POLITICS? BY

periodically returns to the current issue of the participation of Catholics in political life of our country. He wrote recently in the Journal of Southern Bishop also broke. Why such a presence would be needed? What would be the specific contribution of Catholics to politics? What they connote different quality than the "secular"?
The speech is complex and relates to the Gospel message, that everything exudes love for humanity and the human community, where the everyday experience of living, the difficulty of being men and women naturally carry with inalienable rights, dignity is not violated neither the State nor by others. There are rights to life, peace and happiness that such comes either directly from a reading in social and economic terms of the gospels. The message of God to men is a message of peace and fruitfulness of life.
does not belong to a vision of Christianity postponed happiness hereafter. It is a misreading of the Gospels and black, pessimistic and discouraging: if happiness can only be reached Heaven, because we came into this world? Only to suffer and die, as some current Catholic postulate? They sow fear and pain in excess of that Jesus never spoke. He, indeed, spoke of complete happiness, already achieved here and now. How? In what way? By serving others, without demanding anything in return, launching a virtuous circle of love which responds more love. This is the heart of the Gospel message: the joy and love that generates it.
The Christian who engages in policy brings with it this view of life is capable, through prayer and meditation to discern the signs of the times through a spiritual sensitivity that many do not possess. The Christian examines the signs, read them in the light of the Gospel, he draws ideas of analysis to design the city on a human scale, in which solidarity and prosperity reign. The common good is the public good, and this symmetry he meets all the men and women of good will who, from other forms of humanism, they care about man, life and creation. The dialogue between different political cultures stems from this common foundation: the protection of human life, from birth to natural death. On these questions there are clashes and ethical controversy and I would say, big contradictions that should be overcome with intelligence and wisdom. An example: areas of pacifism and environmentalism lay postulate the protection of the environment and animal life, but they say something very convincing than the protection of unborn life and dying. Abortion and euthanasia, to me, contrasted with even the conditions of ideological environmentalism and pacifism. Consciousness would take a big step forward. Here, the Catholic fundamentalism poses no substantive issues and with full respect for others' visions, in a report that, as we were taught and Moro Dell'Andro is for discussion and dialogue, since dialogue is something we in them and vice versa. The new humanity is always born by acts of love and dialogue, a mutual enrichment that is new life during construction.
